So far Penelope Dullaghan has been illustrating full-time for only a few years. They do say that the first few years are the hardest, though, and Penelope hopes they’re right.
During her ongoing efforts to, um, go on, she has learned much about persistence, dedication, and how much she loves the process of making art. (Conclusion: quite a bit.)
Penelope has used these realizations to stoke not only the fiery furnace of her own creativity, but innumerable furnaces worldwide, through her online expression portal/participatory art exhibit, Illustration Friday. I-Fri, originally quite modest, now boasts more than half-a-million hits per month and close to a thousand participants each week.
That’s a lot.
Also generous in the numerical department are Penelope’s clients, who range from a lady who bakes organic cookies to United Airlines, which, you know, flies all around everywhere. Each job gets her best work, though, regardless of size, because Penelope has a reputation to consider.
(Sometimes only having been in the business a few years is a good thing.)
